Roman Emperor Augustus with Diamond
This is a beautiful one of a kind handcrafted pendant inspired by the ancient Romans. It is modeled after a real historical silver cistophorus minted in the Ephesus in 25 BC in honor of the infamous Augustus Caesar. Augustus was the first Roman emperor, following the republic, which had been finally destroyed by the dictatorship of Julius Caesar, his great-uncle and adoptive father. His autocratic regime is known as the principate because he was the princeps, the first citizen, at the head of that array of outwardly revived republican institutions that alone made his autocracy palatable. The front side of the pendant features the head of Augustus facing right. There is a beautiful round cut diamond set in a 24k solid bezel near the bottom. The backside of the pendant has a depiction of a sea goat, representing the constellation of Capricorn, holding a cornucopia surrounded by a laurel-leaf crown with the inscription AVGVSTVS. Capricorn was adopted by Augustus as his favorite astrological sign, used on cameos, coins, and legionary standards. The bail is made with solid 24k yellow gold.
There is also the option of choosing a chain with a diamond clasp. That chain is made out of sterling silver. The clasp of the chain is made with silver, gold plated, decorated with tiny diamonds and is two sided.
